Co-founding and running Kinetic Talent for 30 months has taught us a lot. About work, about people, and about each other. As we’ve described month by month (see blogs from earlier this year) we’ve learned the power of five words in particular.
When to say yes:
To rooms where we belong and grow. The networking groups, events and gatherings that stretch us also shape how we’re seen. We’re learning that who you associate with subtly signals what level you play at, and whether they hire you or not.
When to say no:
To prospects and opportunities that aren’t quite right. Even when they come through trusted channels. Holding firm to our sweet spot opens doors for our wider community and reminds others that we know our lane—and love it.
When to say help:
Like when we brought on Mary Greene of Higher Dimension. Rebranding, refining, realigning—she helped us shift from coaching freelancers to shaping leadership culture. Her guidance changed our identity and look, for sure. And also how we do business.
When to say hooray:
Because entrepreneurship is slow magic with sporadic sparkles. Tiny wins, surprising yeses, bold asks, deep conversations—we’ve learned to celebrate it all. It fuels us through the quieter stretches and reminds us we’re doing meaningful work.
And when to say “we”:
Because we are a we. And it turns out, we’re better at this work together than we ever imagined.
